Internet service provider closing metro-east office
Article from Belleville News Democrat:
An Internet services provider has been sold and is closing its metro-east office.
Network Solutions, which has operated in the Bronze Pointe office complex in Swansea since 2006, will close its doors by the end of next month. This follows the Herndon, Va.-based company’s sale in October to Web.com, of Jacksonville, Fla.
Web.com Executive Vice President Roseann Duran said the new owner is consolidating its operations, and the Swansea office will be closed because the services that Web.com provides overlap with its operations in Florida. After March 31, about 60 of the 93 employees from the metro-east office will be offered jobs working from their homes and about 12 will have the opportunity to work at the new company’s headquarters in Florida. The remaining workers will be offered a “generous” severance package, Duran said.
“There is good news and bad news,” Duran said. “In the (Swansea) area, many of the services we provide there we also do in other places, so there was duplication. However, Network Solutions had a very robust workforce home program available to the employees there.”
